YES, YET

After the results of yesterday’s Indiana and North Carolina primaries, everybody now knows what everybody has known since March–the game is over. Hillary made a charge in Pennsylvania and won a lot of respect, but let’s face it–whatever she won came at a high cost to her, and to Obama. Now she talks about slogging on, and seeing what happens in the rest of the primaries and in the Rules committee on May 31st. She is like General Lee in November of 1864–outmanned, out-equipped, surrounded, with her hopes of foreign intervention or a Lincoln defeat now gone by the boards. A lot of soldiers died before he accepted the inevitable. Even in the final days in April 1865, Lee asked his generals if it was time to surrender, and Longstreet said “Not yet.” A couple more days and a bunch more killing, and yes, finally, it was yet. Hillary doesn’t have to lose everything to accept that she’s lost. Today is the first day of the rest of her life. She’s got a lot to offer. Get after it.
