Joe Scarborough said something particularly dumb on this morning’s program. Talking about the possibility of a brokered GOP convention that would catapult a fresh face to the Republican nomination, he brought up the effect Sarah Palin had on the McCain candidacy in 2008. Joe noted, correctly, that after her selection, the ticket took the lead in the polls, and held it “all the way” until the weekend Lehman Brothers collapsed. McCain picked Palin on August 29th. Lehman filed for bankruptcy on September 15th. In other words, “all the way” equals two weeks. What happened then? Events, of course. And just as importantly, she was revealed.
