For as much as I like President Obama, I’m afraid the Bill Clinton is the still the Big Dog of the Democratic Party. When he takes the stage at the convention in Charlotte on Thursday, I hope he comes in like Buford Pusser in Walking Tall, carrying a 2×4 and ready to set the record straight. For more than anything, the Democrats need a man of peerless skills as a communicator and his zest for combat to go after the Republicans, and to remind the country that through everything the GOP has done over the last twelve years, they have forfeited their right to rule. Please, Bill, remind the American people that ridiculous tax cuts, the disgraceful war in Iraq, the slide into financial crisis, the war on unions, the war on women’s health, the cynical failure to legislate in good faith, and the relentless promotion of government of the rich, by the rich and for the rich–that this is the Republican record in the 21st century. Please make sure that you make people understand that if they liked Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Abramoff, DeLay, Kantor, Gonzales, Palin, Bachmann, Santorum, Grover Norquist, Shedlon Adelson and the Koch Brothers, then Mitt Romney is your man. Once again, Mr. Clinton, it’s your moment. Go kick ass and name names.
