Playboys after dark: Chris Napolitano, Tim Mohr, Scott Alexander, Josh Robertson and Rocky Rakovic.

I spent an interesting and enjoyable Tuesday evening at the restaurant Twenty Four Fifth, attending a Mediabistro-sponsored event called Skirts, Slacks and Supper: Men’s and Women’s Magazine Editors Match Wits. A bunch of us from Playboy went to support our fearless leader, Chris Napolitano, who was one of the event’s featured speakers. It was my particular piece of good fortune to share a table with nine editrixes (that is, lady editors) of women’s mags, and we had an agreeable and lively discussion about what we do all day. The most interesting revelation was that, like the editors of Playboy, the editors of these magazines feel that there work is not all that much respected in the greater magazine community (which led me to post yesterday’s entry about the ASMEs.) The best news is that since I already own slacks and am not much interested in skirts, I was paying particular attention to supper, which consisted of tender steak and some heavenly potato croquettes. Actually, the best part was that I met a lot of new and interesting people. It was a lot of fun.
