On Sunday I saw Donovan at the Paramount Theater in Peekskill. Or, if I was nasty, I’d say I saw a 70 year old Donovan impersonator. The veteran trouper did his best to put on a good show, singing all of his sweet, romantic songs, as well as his outstanding and outstandingly odd compositions, like “Mellow Yellow.” It was a low energy show, and the high end of the man’s voice is unreliable. But he told good stories. All in all, it made me want to keep his Greatest Hits album in heavy rotation.
