Just short of his 80th birthday, the great Gordon Lightfoot appeared at the Paramount theater in Peekskill on Sunday, August 12. Having battled various illnesses for the better part of a decade, Lightfoot was a gaunt but cheerful presence. The robust baritone was gone; Lightfoot sang in a thin voice, but on key, and with great feeling. It was wonderful to hear the old songs, especially “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” and “If You Could Read My Mind.”
